Pros

Benefits are good. If you like deploying the opportunities are plentiful. There are bonuses and tuition incentives out there as well. A little extra cash is nice to have from drill checks, sometimes extra work is available.

Cons

a lot of stress due to the organization. multiple deployments are the norm now. GOOD OLD BOY SYSTEM affects everything from schools, promotions, positions, you name it. I've seen people kill themselves working for the units, costing them their families many times and they get slapped in the face by the people around them as far as giving awards for their work to people who didn't do the work. Passing over for promotions, giving school slots to individuals who were less qualified. This is a very political organization to say the least. The backstabbing is an ongoing thing. Deployments are very painful because most of the leadership is inexperienced especially compared to active duty. Most people just become numb and desensitized to the politics and backstabbing. The "Im not surprised" statement becomes the norm when you hear about who got victimized now.
