- fun and fast paced environment with chance to take on a lot of responsibility - you can make this role into something very educational and realise your potential if you're willing to put the work in - majority of customers are decent - no two days the same e.g. different customers, different footfall, seasonal trends, new devices which is fun - in the right phone shop, you can stay there and have a great time long term - supportive phone shop colleagues very down to earth and good diversity here - accomodating to your personal circumstances - good working relations with the phone shop managers, who back you in difficult situations and push you to learn new stuff and try new things out - relaxed atmopshere - cross store working so you can work in more than one phone shop and meet new teams to find out what suits you best - free fruit and breakfast incentives, with beverages - TM area manager backs you, understands you, and takes interest in you - phone shop managers call you for extra work if you want it when their hands are not tied by Head Office, so you have freedom to choose if you want to do extra work or not - some head office staff who worked in retail are more down to earth and friendly - in the right phone shop, you can realise your potential and be a great version of yourself

- head office staff are hostile and rude to phone shop colleagues, and unsolicited visits from them create toxic culture - store colleagues (outside of phone shop) are deceitful and just have nothing better to do than gossip + lie, so 90% should not be trusted. And they do nothing but waste your time and want to pry into your personal life to gossip. Most just disgrace themselves too - head office cause issues in phone shops and make unfavourable decisions which ties your phone shop manager's hands and means they may struggle to support you at times - lack of hours and low hour work = lack of opportunity - low hour contracts (12-16 hours) are awful and you have to get a second job to make up for it - can be made to feel unheard and unseen, and even excluded from your team due to unfavourable management decisions when they overlook you and disregard you which contributes to health issues - if your phone shop manager is away, senior team jump into your store making you feel excluded and overlooked with their "unpopular" decisions - no balance in some teams when it comes to opportunities which causes tension, some colleagues are just automatically excluded from opportunities due to "operational needs" - unsolicited visits from not only most shop floor colleagues but also former Tesco colleagues who left for "more money" is just demoralising and useless, and the company expects you to be courteous to them - if you do anything against the business unintentionally or by mistake, they will make sure to turn everyone against you and humiliate you to destroy your reputation so you're pushed out by using them as witnesses - hard work not recognised or rewarded, instilling doubt and making you feel unvalued - store did not even give a locker to store stuff due to being "full" - store managers are deceitful and create false rumours to fuel hostility and mental health crisis - being new was uncomfortable and belittling, as it was made to be obvious and labelled. Interviewing manager was late to my interview which made me uncomfortable - extra hours market is a scam for those on low hour contracts Vs high hours - useless at dealing with phone shop robberies and implementing safety measures - have to deal with technology illiterate customers or rude customers everyday and then reprimanded for not hitting target, though they make up a small percentage - security useless at dealing with anti social behaviour from youths, drunks, and creepy customers as they're nowhere to be seen and passive - putting up with sob stories from some customers can hinder you from hitting target, and fact you don't hit target will appear in review - measures are taken to ensure you have no friendships as this is not permitted here, as lengths are taken by senior individuals to make you turn against one another
