Pros

Get to work in public school system - but really depends on the school if you get a good placement

Cons

- They cut the salary many teachers signed up for and gaslighted us about it. - Worst benefits out of all the companies placing teachers in public schools....Lowest pay, do not cover any costs such as visa, health check etc when everyone else does, don't pay for July when everyone else does, no two way airfare reimbursement, when everyone else gives this - just totally mean. - New contract cuts days off even more and does not provide airfare re-imbursement. - They tax at 18% even in january. - Too many lies - People are not treated the same - different pay, favoritism, different working hours - the list goes on and on. - All other companies have a clear salary structure which is fair and transparent - TLI does not - plus of course they cut the salary we signed up for. - Living in Taipei (most expensive city) and with the low salary and enforced high tax rate, it feels like you are living in poverty - at least much lower than average pay.

Pros

Get to know other foreign ETAs from all around the world. Work with and teach public school students in Taipei

Cons

Company management is a mess. Job description is not truthful and not applicable to all ETAs. Pay is low for the work we do (the work depends on the school you are allocated to) You are taxed foreigner’s tax of 18% for the whole year’s contract even though by law, you should only be taxed that amount for a shorter period of time Working culture is not transparent and rather toxic. Work ethics are uniquely Taiwanese or East Asian maybe.
