Pros
For MDs, opportunities for giving rewarding medical care abound, and are the best part of the job. Their use of the Epic platform for an electronic medical record gives one excellent proficiency in EMR-based medicine. Many of the physicians themselves are quite dedicated, and are a pleasure to work with. The internal message that they give their caregivers-to take good care of the patient-seems to be an honest message.
Cons
The administration is generally quite rigid and dealing with its employees, both on the medical group side, and on the Health Plan side. Compounding that, there is often a lack of fundamental honesty in the messages that Administration promulgates. I believe that the rigidity of the system is becoming more prominent, and that that in turn is leading to more and more widespread employee discontent, that over all negates the positives listed above. TSPMG is an organization that has a tremendous potential to offer, but they shoot themselves in the foot by creating dissatisfaction and discontent within the work environment. Nursing staff are not primarily responsible to the MDs that they work with, and in some situations that also generates avoidable workplace friction. That however varies on a module-to-module basis, some units function better than others.
