Pros
I love being part of protecting the public and ensuring everyone is flying safely. Great longterm benefits
Cons
First off, let's start with the fact that TSA does not consider giving higher pay to Veterans, college degree holders or any sort of additional qualifications that other agencies or companies look for as bonuses. Secondly, the types of individuals TSA employs nowadays are inexperienced young individuals due to their 10 year "clean" background checks who lack people skills and tend to be very disrespectful towards the public (yes, that includes seniors!). Majority of TSA's employees are (lacking better terms) ghetto and vulgar varying from profanity used while working to simply their personalities. That includes individuals in management. It surprises me how they promoted. TSA does not discipline their officers well like other federal or law enforcement agencies do. Hence why the agency hold such a bad reputation . TSA's management also has favoritism towards their subordinate family members or friends who always manage to get them out of trouble. Why is it acceptable for one TSO to have unacceptable uniform appearance and not for the other? Why is it acceptable for one TSO to get away with tardiness and call offs but suspend or Leave-ristrict another? And not to mention promotion!! A 5+ year employee that is not a "favorite" isnt able to promote but a one-year under probation employee is promoting left and right. It's ridiculous. Do you recall when I mentioned that they dont consider your qualifications for a higher pay? Well they also overlook those qualifications for promotion due to the matter that they shoot for their friends and family members. This is simply some of the issues occurring. You'd have to be within to see the rest for yourself. At this point I'm not looking to promote anymore rather find a better agency.
