Pros

At the beginning, loved the job! Great people under me, fair pay for job commitments, benefits, paid vacation, car allowance and gas card. Upper management at that time appeared to be concerned for ALL employees (yes this was long, long ago). I met and interacted with many Upper Management including the owner, Jim Pattison. There was great excitement as to how far the company would expand within the Industry. Mutual respect within the company, our clients, and the competition was high.

Cons

Then began the growth that was not controlled and managed as it should have been. New acquisitions equal more hours (average for Supervisors 80 - 120 WEEKLY). First was the absorption of the Source clientele when they closed the doors. If not for that most likely TNG would not have been able to remain competitive. Pay cuts, pay freezes, no raises for their employees at the front line (Merchandisers deserve to be paid for their experience!). Car allowance taken away once salaried were back to "normal. Salaries across the company were increased when they were forced by the Government to do so. Next gas cards were taken away and "Management" was paid mileage. Which TNG tried to get out of paying the commute from 'Home Office" to the field and back to the 'Home Office to finish up reports, surveys, hiring, etc. If the company doesn't want to pay mileage for that commute then TNG should rent their management real work offices that they would commute to and from. Here in California employees have rights. After many years of my career invested in TNG (with plans of retirement within the next 4 years) myself and others were 'laid off'. We were verbally told that due to restructuring of the company our positions had been eliminated. (Amazing how those 'eliminated' positions were suddenly filled by people from a recent acquisition.) BUT - I figured I'd take the severance pay and use the time to get back into a real life instead of only a work life. My health improved immensely. Then I filed for Unemployment, figuring I'd put so many years in I could take the time to find that position for the end of my career. Here comes a shocker! ( I know, I should have expected something like the below but I was raised to give my all and the company you work for does the same for you.) Unemployment Department was told by this company that I had quit with no notice. So much for my loyalty to the company! Boy did I feel extremely irritated and abused to be treated with disrespect and no thankfulness for my investment with the company! I spoke with a nice lady at EDD and told her how I had received notification from my immediate boss to join a Conference Call on XX/XX at XXam. When I did I was told my services were no longer needed as my position had been eliminated. I was sent an email with Separation Agreement, General Information, etc. Unfortunately in the Separation Agreement there is no mention of the restructuring of the company and that being the reason for the elimination of my position. Fortunately I do have paperwork that states the above. We shall see how this proceeds, This is just another example of how TNG devalues its employees.
