Pros
- Work life balance is good for certain positions. - Some teams are a pleasure to work with. - The work is simple once you are past the initial learning stages.
Cons
- Some managers are rude, unprofessional, and make the work day a drag. Frequently just an email from them ruined the entire day. I left specifically because of this. - Communication is awful. - "Standard practices" appear to change depending on who you are talking to. Many people appear to have very little understanding as to how work NEEDS to be done. Just how they THINK it should be done. Made it very difficult to produce consistent results. - Zero accountability: When people make mistakes, they quickly shift blame to wherever possible, and there is often zero investigation into where the issue originated. Whoever was unfortunate enough to catch the hot potato carries the responsibility for it. - Lack of formal training leads to poor work output. This is not the end of the world if it is addressed, however generally it was not. The teams would pick up the slack and that was that. - There are no plans to assist struggling employees. There is very little in place to support employees. The SOP's are frequently lacking in details and the existing manuals have not been updated in ages. - In addition to the above, system updates frequently were not effectively reported to the team and often led to extremely frustrating moments. - Pay raises are slow to come, if at all. Growth within the company is extremely limited. - This is not TKL exclusive, but upper management is slow to respond/react and feels at times a bit out of touch with their employee's needs. Given the above points, TKL breeds complacent employees that are not incentivized to perform to the best of their abilities. Work done is often sloppy, rushed, and subpar.
