Pros

it's easy to get hired...thats it.

Cons

Everything else. Oh my lord...this company truly doesnt give a care in the world. Coming to this place, i had a decent amount of experience already, so i have certain standards about certain things. The first thing that stood out: they started me out with no set training-plan. After the first 2 days here, i would just show up and would have to ask around to find something to do. And this is a symptom of a bigger problem here: the absolutely abysmal communication & planning here; i've never been at a company where nearly every manager was completely clueless like the ones here. here, if you're doing a task, you'll spend more time correcting the task over & over instead of getting it right the first time, because TJX seems to not properly communicate their vision (hah..) to managers, and so, managers struggle to communicate any clear plan to associates. I was caught off-guard when i found out this place didnt use plan-o-grams (and for anyone who doesnt know, plan-o-grams are documents that tell you visually how to set up your merchandise. Having these are like Retail 101), so there was no clear goal of how things were supposed to look (I guess this WOULD explain why the TJX stores i've been to usually looked a mess). Plan-o-grams would make the job **so** much simpler---but no, this billion-dollar corporation couldnt take the little extra time to provide their employees with proper planning-materials to make sure THEIR merchandise was properly set-up. When i was first setting up merchandise here, i asked my manager if we had any maps or checklists of how things were supposed to look, and my manager seriously told me to "use my imagination"....what? And, of course, we'd spend hours trying to pin down what exactly was best to do, because the managers couldnt make up their minds; we'd spend a bunch of time taking things out of boxes, just to eventually put them back in the boxes; we'd spend a bunch of time moving shoes to one side of the shoe-wall, just to later find out the shoes had to go on the opposite side, etc. etc. I mean, come on. Communication? Proper planning? Time-management? Managers who actually have a real vision?? Forget about it. You just show up and roll with whatever mess is happening that day. (that is, IF they havent cut your hours because of "payroll"....lol..) But...by FAR.. the BIGGEST pet-peeve about this place: their obsession with pushing credit cards on customers. Oh my lord, the managers here literally BREATHE down your neck every 10 minutes, micromanaging you & pestering you about how many credit-cards you got from customers; its so obnoxious. At this point, for me, its a HUGE red-flag if a company pays you minimum-wage, pressures you to endlessly push [high-interest] credit-cards on people, and the company doesnt even give you commission for it. Atleast, If you're a giant organization with all this money, you gotta give us *some* type of real incentive for all this pressure you're putting on us over these credit cards---and not just simply giving us "shoutouts." Be serious. Basically, everything about this place is a joke; this company cares more about credit-cards than anything else. Steer clear of this place if you hate being "thrown out there," hate being micromanaged, and hate disorganization.

Pros

-flexible and accomodating hours - good partime job for college student - very neutral experience, but the fact that it wasn't terrible makes it a pro -10% employee discount

Cons

-lower pay than other retail places ($12 when I was there) - general cons that just come with retail (rude customers, boring tasks, etc.) - store is constantly being rearranged, and is also disorganized on purpose so customers have to search through/look at more things to find what they are looking for -CONSTANTLY having to push the TJ Maxx credit card and having managers literally walk by to make sure you are - can't wear t-shirts or any graphic tees including ones in the store (which always bothered me because if they can sell it I should be able to wear it)
