Pros

* Amazing health care benefits. * The new CEO appears to genuinely care about the company and employees' work-life balance. * Located at a gorgeous spot by the waterfront.

Cons

* The company has always been plagued by poor upper management that refuses to accept responsibility for the problems it causes. * Company hasn't had a clear identity or mission for some time now. * Has a history of indiscriminate layoffs. When the company starts to lose money its most talented software and techops engineers are fired, entire teams are dissolved, which further exacerbates personnel problems, creates knowledge vaccuums, and leaves entire sectors of the infrastructure unmaintained. This is a pattern that has repeated itself several times. * Company rarely promotes from within. * The quality of Synacor's software offerings is rapidly diminishing due to the loss of engineering talent over the years and systemic problems that have never been addressed (poor or lack of documentation, flimsy adherence to coding standards, no official architectural oversight, hesitancy to upgrade/modernize/replace poorly performing subsystems and outdated tech)

I was with the company for 10 years and it felt like a family. We grew so much together. By far the best company I've worked for in my career path.

Cons

Very few cons other than the usual financial goals being prioritized upon the CEO changing

Pros

Pay, Remote, and Flexible schedule?

Management. The lady is technologically inept, sometimes uses technical terms loosely and can throw the listener off track. The onboarding is nil. She doesn’t know the infrastructure/posture and the one person (small IT team) that you’d think you can go to for said information, is a troll. Literally refuses to knowledge share, belittles me and then insults my intelligence… for days on, mind you. After reporting this to my manager, she let it slide. As if this is okay behavior. This is an incredibly toxic team, this IT team, exclusively. Lastly, there’s two other team members, based out of India, amongst a couple more outside of our team, who cannot get into dialogue with the human troll because of his “etiquette”. This makes it impossible to have successful team meetings. Ultimately to manage the team as a single unit.
