Pros
The technology is interesting, and there are people who genuinely care. If you're lucky, you may be on a team where the Head of the department will protect you from the toxic and borderline harassing behavior of the CEO.
Cons
Executive Team - The CEO makes questionable decisions based on a whim. She will ask for input as a way to validate her own decisions and if your answer differs from hers, she will try to talk you into it. If that fails, she will start questioning whether you truly understand the company. It's her way or the highway. And if her way is wrong? She will blame it on everything and everyone else but herself. Horrible at listening and cannot accept constructive feedback. - The CEO also proudly reprimands anybody in a group setting, whether you're a Head of or entry level. This leads to a leadership team that is constantly on its toes. - Decisions are made without all stakeholders involved which leads to a lack of direction. This makes it challenging to know what the company's goals are. - "Transparency" means including the CEO and CTO in all discussions where folks can be scolded for sharing their thoughts and opinions during a simple brainstorming session, or asking clarification questions. - The CTO does not set the direction of Symbl's technology. He is simply a glorified engineer with no leadership skills. - The CEO gossips about things that should be confidential. Everyone knows everyone's business. Work/Life Balance - They say they care about this, but once you join, they expect you to work constantly. If you don't, you might be on the chopping block.
