Pros
- The Pay: With one year of previous experience directly in the industry and only a high school diploma, I started at $50/hr. - The Diversity of Coworkers: Every type of person from every industry and every corner of the globe working and learning together. - Open Doors & Feedback: If you want to know where you're coming up short and where you're doing great, just ask. Everyone there from entry-level to executive will respond to your questions.
Cons
- It's a Startup: This could also be a pro. Things move fast. Contractors have limited visibility in Slack. This leads to suboptimal workflows and missed opportunities. - Worker Misclassification: They eventually ship you a laptop you have to use, they provide the platform, you must work at consistent times, etc. Basically they force you to pay your own taxes even though the IRS would definitely classify you as a W-2 employee and even though they control nearly every aspect of how the work is performed. - Just like working as a data labeler on DataAnnotation.tech, when you're dropped, it will be immediate, it may be unexpected, and you likely won't be told why (But you may know why as they're good at feedback).
