Pros
It's super easy, not many written materials so it's hard to break rules when they are unclear, most clients are joyful and fun. Seasonal items are trendy and interesting. Not much thought went into employee discount so it's at times unreasonably good (also at time unreasonably bad.)
Cons
Wage theft is definitely my biggest complaint. They don't offer health benefits when they are legally required and all around skim on hours and don't follow payday law when they think they can get away with it. They will steal from you at every opportunity so always check your paystubs even if you're store reports correctly they can mysteriously have issues. The hours are brutal for a store that's not a super store. Expect Walmart not forever 21. They don't have comprehensive policy about much including scheduling so you can expect clopening. Being required to do full time when you are part time. They don't support you with good education about the stuff in store so you will be sitting there with your pants down every time you have a question. The return policy is very basic and covers little so guest will flip out on you regularly, not the companies fault, but most certainly a hazard you aren't compensated for. LP duties can be scary since the main thing to take is knives and obviously you don't want to try to recover them. Stores are not well cared for expect unsanitary to squalid conditions and many broken and damaged essential items. Computer system is beyond sub par. Transactions can take up to 5 minutes for a single item. They try to catalog guest like a small boutique so you're often sifting through piles and piles of duplicate information. Overall very disorganized and unprofessional environment.
