Pros
Sur la Table has an amazing brand image and the customer base is loyal ans enthusiastic. The external product is excellent and the cooking classes are a great draw.
Cons
Since the acquisition and replacement of senior leadership with former Williams-Sonoma enployees, company policies have fallen off. The hands-off WS approach is condescending at best and absent at worst. In six months in a full time leadership role I received zero feedback on my performance despite asking for it. There were staff members with known on-site substance abuse who were allowed to continue teaching classes. There were underperforming associates who had multiple racist and prejudiced outbursts who received no corrective action. Despite years of high level experience in running a store, I was performing the functions of a cashier and overpaid doing so. While my store manager was excellent, we never saw area or regional management. Ever. The location didn't have internet access for online sales for five of the six months I worked there. The store didn't have functional phones for the same time. Evidently it wasn't important to senior leadership, even after we had dozens of customer complaints about reaching us. There is zero associate development, zero understanding of store level practices by senior leadership, and overall the company is coasting on its brand image which is quickly deteriorating.
