Pros
The hours are somewhat flexible, and there's an on-site cafeteria with a limited menu.
Cons
Management prefers to hire unemployed people as they will agree to predatory contractual terms, such as poor vacation, long notice periods, and unpaid overtime. And there is LOTS of unpaid overtime: holidays, late evenings, weekends, no notice call-ins, all under threat of termination. Interdepartmental politics cripples productivity, leads to frequent heated confrontations and high turnover. Some senior managers are fond of regularly screaming at subordinates. Benefits are the poorest I've ever seen and the provider changes frequently. Cost is everything: projects are delayed for weeks to save a few dollars (literally). There is no big-picture thinking, only day-to-day, dollar-by-dollar.
