Pros

Hands on project management, sales, marketing, estimating, and entrepreneurship training. Managers will invest their time in you if you are giving equal effort to better your business.

Cons

Extremely hard to make ends meet at first. You are learning the tremendous difficulties of running your own small business as a young college student. You really earn your battle stripes with this job.

Pros

As a branch manager for 3 years looking back I'd have to say that I learned more working with SEP then I ever have in a classroom. To be candid, while interviewing for positions out of college I had far more to relate to my prospective employer pulling from my experience with this company then I did at the University of Washington. Student Edge Painting gave me the opportunity to genuinely run my own business while also providing the support needed as a first timer in this type of endeavor. This is a great opportunity for someone who is genuinely ready to stretch their comfort zones and challenge their capacity to balance a lot of tasks at once. Looking back, I met some of my greatest friends while working with SEP. Not to mention qualifying to go on an all expense paid week long vacation in Mexico.

Cons

If you're looking for a m-f 9:00-5:00 with an uninterrupted hour for lunch this is probably not for you. You are truly responsible for everything that happens on the job and like a friend of mine says "nobody cares more about your business then you" so don't expect (though you'll probably find some great employees) that things will go smoothly without your attention.
