Pros

On the engineering side there are plenty of opportunities for growth. The culture is very forward thinking and gives developers room to learn. This is done via the culture in the teams, inviting people to challenge the status quo and suggest ideas, knowledge sharing sessions and a £500 learning and development budget. The environment is fast paced, so while it can be intense it is also very rewarding. We work very closely with our end users so everything we build has a purpose and we often receive feedback straight from the users so we as developers can see the fruits of our labour. There aren't many barriers to communication, so it's easy to stay on the same page with the commercial team and other product teams. Weekly All Hands sessions also keep everyone in the loop from all aspects of the business. The salary is also fair and managers on the engineering side are open to negotiation when discussing salary increases. This happened to me literally this week which I was very grateful for.

Cons

It can be intense, particularly if you are on a team building new things and the stakes are high - however I would consider this as less of a con and more a byproduct of the exciting environment we are in. The office is currently being refurbished, so in the short - medium term it can be difficult to organise team days in the office as desk availability is low. This will hopefully resolve itself next year, however! As mentioned in the advice section, it is currently quite loud and distracting in the office if you are the type of person who needs time to settle into deep focus to get work done efficiently.

Street Group Response

Hey, thanks so much for your feedback - and honesty! It is great to hear that you have benefitted from our open and transparent culture here at Street Group. It is something we are working hard to maintain and continuously improve. Well done on the salary increase also! We do take on board your comments about the office, we appreciate the refurbishment and lack of quieter areas is frustrating for so many of the team right now. We are confident the office will be ready in early Spring, with many new quieter spaces. We do urge you though to speak to your manager about the current distraction issues you are experiencing due to the business of the office to see what other support we can provide and also consider attending the office on Mondays and Fridays instead when the office is much quieter.

Pros

I've been here for a number of years now, joining straight out of University into a Junior role. In my experience I've found that career progression is real if you're willing to put the work in. In my time here I've had 3 promotions and have a progression meeting with my team lead every 6 months to make sure we are always moving in the right direction with where I want to be. You get genuine ownership of your work and room to take an idea and run with it, which doesn't happen everywhere, and when something lands well people notice and say so. I've been able to take on ambitious projects, really from day 1, and mould my role to what works for me. Also being given the keys to cutting-edge technologies has allowed me to really push my role to the next level. The team is the best part. Good people, easygoing, and sociable enough that the week doesn't drag. Managers are approachable, as well as the Senior Leadership and CEOs. Over the 4 years, I think at least every department and its team lead has taken a genuine interest in what I have been doing. I've been pushed to go outside my comfort zone with things like public speaking, which adds more to my skillset than I'd ever imagined. 1:1s happen regularly, so you always know where you stand. What speaks volumes is that as the business has almost tripled in size since I started, there is a strong core of familiar faces that welcomed me on Day 1. There's good variety in the work too, and you get to deal with people across different teams rather than being stuck in one lane.

Cons

It's a fast-moving place, so work tends to come in waves and the busier stretches can run into longer days now and then. A bit more planning ahead would smooth those out. That's about the only honest gripe, and the good clearly outweighs it.

Pros

While the business is 11 years old, it still maintains a true startup energy—it's fast-paced, dynamic, and genuinely at the cutting edge of the tech landscape. The Co-founders are deeply invested in the business and its people, fully appreciating that we are all on this journey together. You will enjoy significant business impact and autonomy, with clear scope for progression that is entirely in your hands. The culture is genuine and real as is the support you get.

Cons

This environment is best suited for self-starters. Those who prefer heavy corporate structure or extended hand-holding may find the pace challenging. We often 'wear many hats' and navigate a degree of ambiguity—traits inherent to a high-growth tech scale-up. If you thrive on autonomy and aren't afraid of a bit of healthy flux, you’ll fit right in; if you prefer a rigid, highly defined roadmap, this might not be the right match.
