Neat entry-job (that only happens every five years, but oh well) - Census Enumerator Statistics Canada Employee Review

Pros

- Very social job. Lots of opportunities to talk with people. - Self-directed job, so one can choose when they work and figure out what their skills are without too much interference. - Clear instructions and lots of resources for employees. - Management is nice, open, and responsive while still being clear about what is expected. - Online platform is easy to use, and making pay claims is very simple.

Cons

- Online platform can be limited depending on one's position, so an enumerator often has to wait for their manager to make changes to their lists if a case they were working on is reassigned to someone else before they can update it. - Management provides info at irregular times (including during evening or later), and response time to inquiries heavily depends on the individual manager. - No way to proceed further in the public service as an enumerator.

Pros

-set your own hours -database was easy to use

Cons

-the work itself can be frustrating as you you need to visit the same people over and over again to try to get them to do their census. You often know the person is there but they refuse to answer the door. -as well, many people are very rude and verbally abusive to you when you knock on their door -in the beginning, the job is not too bad as you often have people on your list who just simply haven't gotten around to completing the census, but after 2 months of visiting the same people over and over again, it gets very demoralizing
