Pros

Strong Training & Onboarding: State Farm invests heavily in training, especially for claims and customer service roles. You’re given the tools and resources to succeed early on. Stable & Established Company: With decades in the industry, there’s a sense of job security and a clear structure in place. Supportive Culture (in most teams): Many teams foster a collaborative environment where coworkers genuinely help each other. Good Benefits: Health insurance, retirement plans, and employee discounts are competitive.

Cons

High Workload in Certain Roles: Claims and call center positions can be stressful, with high call volumes and strict performance metrics. Limited Flexibility in Some Departments: While some roles offer hybrid or remote work, others require strict schedules and in-office presence. Bureaucracy: Being a large corporation, decision-making can be slow, and processes are sometimes rigid.

Pros

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

Cons

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
