Pros
If chaos and layoffs excite you, you’ll love it here
Cons
Where do I even start? This company has traumatized me and so many others. Avoid this employer at all costs 1) terrible job security & high turnover - there was a ton of people who just disappear from slack every week. I got let go too, and there wasn’t any reasoning to the decision other than that they no longer needed my role. People getting hired and fired super quick. Don’t let a “full time opportunity” think your job security is set. Just go to linkedin and see how long people stayed in that company 2) leadership lacks clarity - strong top down culture where you’ll have to do “as said” from your boss. If you speak out loud about any injustice or unfairness, you will be hated on and let go. I personally know several coworkers from spreeai who started getting mental health help after starting their role at spreeai. That company and the leadership WILL will make you go crazy 3) That company is a family business - when I was there, several leads were family members of board/founders that had no expertise. They’re obviously protected from the “layoffs” and crazy work hours. I always wondered how incompetent leads were never evaluated on their performance, and realized later that two leads were a family of founder, and they hired family of CEO as an intern, while dismissing all the applicants that came through. 4) most importantly, that “startup” has been in the works since 3+ years ago. It’s 2026, and the product has STILL not shipped. There is NO future in this company. Way too many competitors worked faster and shipped their product out. They’re a “talker” and will always talk you into thinking something grand is in the works. In fact, nothing concrete has happened since 3+ years ago. 5) your PTO will get denied. Their so-called “unlimited PTO” is a scam. You won’t be able to take more than a week off at a time, if that’s even allowed. There’s no clear policy but HR will encourage you not to take it because we’re in a “high growth” startup state… BS! 6) some unimportant roles keep getting promoted even though half the hires get fired. They hired yet another HR. Yet, they’re getting rid of people and hiring people left and right, phrasing it as “we’re growing!”. Leads keep getting promoted while doing nothing, while the interns and new grads work nights and weekends without getting recognized.
