Pros

Rewarding when you can help clients Good buildup of PTO

Cons

Horrible insurance Productivity changes that are constantly changing and not for the better. Expectations are unrealistic when you cant control who actually shows up and clients are far away from each other. Lunch breaks are rare and you are forced to go from crisis to crisis without skipping a beat and zero time to decompress. Loyalty is not rewarded and the loyal ones are leaving in droves. They’ll just hire someone straight out of school so you are constantly in training mode.

Pros

I've been working at Spindletop Center for over a year and can confidently say it's one of the best workplaces. The leadership here is incredibly transparent and genuinely invested in helping employees grow both personally and professionally. They ensure that their vision and mission are not just words on a wall but are reflected in their actions and decisions every day. Upper management is aligned with the organization's stated goals and works diligently to create an environment where employees feel valued and supported. The culture at Spindletop Center is uplifting and collaborative. If you are looking for a place that cares about your development and fosters a positive work environment, Spindletop Center is a great place to grow!

Cons

While Spindletop Center is a fantastic place to work, it's important to acknowledge that frontline mental health work is inherently challenging. The nature of the job can be demanding and emotionally taxing, requiring resilience and dedication. However, the supportive environment and resources provided by the organization help mitigate these challenges.

Pros

- Depending on which location you are stationed at, you may have a fairly easy time. - Work culture is pretty good. - Coworkers tend to be nice. - The benefits are solid for a mental health organization.

Cons

- The pay was not very good, and they stopped offering pay increases due to the organization being heavily in debt (which they let us know at every monthly meeting for months in a row). - Organization leaders expect you to lie about your DST, otherwise you will be punished (the productivity time is unrealistic). - Many organizations leaders seem to not really know what they are doing, and the organization seems fairly organized at times. They have no understanding of what QMHP’s need and how to help them. -Some locations are pretty awful to work at, (I saw many QMHP’s in the South Beaumont location leave less than 3 months after being hired), and your work experience will differ greatly depending on which location you are based at.
