Pros
Good benefits, pay, and bonus, depending on where you are. Very flexible. Business causal dress, though some dress more formally, and others wear jeans. Some vendors, but heavy use of linux and open source. Complicated field, but Charter gives you the opportunity to learn what you don't know, and people are willing to help when they are not overloaded with work. Came into the industry with limited experience (though there is really no other way). Excellent and open management. Charter is a large organization, and my experience is based on my particular area and team. Team management, values, and interactional norms can vary.
Cons
Large corporation, so as an engineer I spend more time than I would like in meetings and coordinating between teams. At least 45h/wk, with many of the principle engineers working upwards of 50.
