Hour pay okay, no work /life balance - Warehouse Associate Spears Manufacturing Employee Review

Pros

The pay is better than most warwhouses in the area, but not by much. Very easy job in a somewhat climate controlled environment. Standard order pulling. Monday through Friday first shift.

Cons

ZERO sick time, unless it is mandated by the state. You will not earn paid personal time off, only vacation time, which is only 20 hours after your first year, then 40 after your second. No additional paid time off, which means every other day /hour you may need off is an automatic occurrence unless pre-approved by management. This leads to many people being in attendance trouble for taking time off when absolutely necessary. Provides no work/life balance since there is no time for doctors/dentists appointments or even a funeral if needed. You will have no days off allowed without an occurrence in your first year unless approved ahead of time. Also, only two positions available within the company, so no way of moving up. Turnover is the highest in any company I've ever worked for. Spears does not value their employees.

Pros

Friendly and supportive coworkers who contribute to a positive team environment. The company is also innovative and takes pride in developing and maintaining a high-quality product.

Cons

Working at Spears Manufacturing came with several challenges. Management tends to be highly micromanaging and often uses fear-based tactics rather than supportive leadership. Communication is inconsistent, with conflicting information shared between employees, creating confusion and frustration. HR does not feel like a resource for employees and appears to operate primarily in the company’s best interest rather than advocating for staff concerns. Work-life balance is poor. The position was presented as a 40-hour work week, but after being hired, expectations shifted to a minimum of 50 hours per week, plus weekends on call. This makes it difficult to maintain personal and family responsibilities. Compensation is low compared to expectations, and the benefits package is below standard. Vacation time is also very limited—no vacation is offered until after one year of employment, and even then it’s less than a week.
