Pros
I worked with many wonderful people at SR. Hundreds that I consider friends.
Cons
I've waited a year since my departure to write this. There was a forty person layoff in 2015 or so. Dedicated and experienced employees. Not unusual if you are truly downsizing. But in the following months, over 100 people were hired. Not experienced. Why? In the faint hope that change will make a difference. One scientist commented that they had hired ten people to replace one employee. That's when things started getting sideways. Southern Research is known as a cancer research organization. They fired a cancer survivor for no apparent reason. Perhaps lower production after chemotherapy. Southern Research truly does not care about its employees. I made the mistake of taking on responsibility beyond the scope of my employment. I then became the scapegoat for everything from that point on. When it was about about salary or respect, I was treated as a peon. When it was about taking time off, I was treated as indispensable, More Chiefs than Braves. I'm sure the positive posts are posted by management through fake accounts. People who take courses to manage employees, simply lack the skills to do it naturally. These are to be avoided. All management gets bonuses. Regular employees have gotten nothing for years. Not even a coupon for a freakin' ham for Christmas. Hyland software scam. Expensive software that does not meet users basic requirements, but was purchased because the IT manager was “friendly” with the company. There were better and less expensive products available. A good way to ruin your career. Aging facilities, crumbling despite the efforts of the amazing maintenance dept.
