Cons
The leadership at Sophos is currently navigating the company directly toward an iceberg. If you are looking for long-term stability or integrity, you want to look elsewhere. Executive Failure: The current CRO has missed five consecutive quarters, yet power continues to be consolidated under a leadership team that has proven incompetent at scaling a sustainable business. Sophos is losing top performers and veteran leaders at an alarming rate. In five years, the company has cycled through four RVPs and three CROs, and its turnover rate speaks volumes about internal stability. Accounting Smoke & Mirrors: Numbers are inflated and leadership only tells half the story. To make targets appear reasonable, they are pulling forward deals and slashing margins, which has fundamentally compromised the business for years. This lack of transparency is reportedly why a recent potential buyer walked away after conducting an audit. Secureworks Disaster: One year post-acquisition, performance is down 50% YoY. Distorying the Channel: Partners should be on high alert. The move to take business "direct" through partner marketplaces is actively eroding the SMB and MSP models that built this company. Customer Advice: To any current or prospective customers: unless you are receiving at least a 40% discount, you are overpaying. Alternatives like CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Huntress are out-executing Sophos in almost every category. Terrible Culture: Leadership has created a culture where anyone who doesn't agree with the current trajectory is either fired or pushed out. Giving each other fancy new titles and additional jobs that they have zero qualifications to be handling.
