Pros

The people at solvaire are great - they want contract attorneys to have work and treat them with respect. Pays well for a contract position but the work is boring and tedious

Cons

Slow days, tedious work, sometimes asked to come in on the weekend late on a Friday - but management was understanding if you couldn't

Pros

This company staffs contract attorney positions for the Pittsburgh firm Babst Calland. Most of the positions are in the firm’s oil and gas practice group. The pros include a nice location downtown and access to free CLEs.

Cons

This company offers very little chance of advancement at the firm. A tiny fraction of contract attorneys get promotions. Contractors are sometimes treated with disrespect and unfairness depending on which attorney they are randomly assigned to. Work is done in tiny cubicles in which dozens of contractors share one room. I have witnessed a senior partner belittling contractors on several occasions. There is also a rather toxic atmosphere in which mistakes are blamed on contractors so that associates can avoid blame themselves. Finally, the pay rate is somewhat low and remained unchanged for multiple years.
