Pros
Pay is competitive relative to other public sector organisations. Work-life balance is generally good, with reasonable expectations around flexibility and time off. Training and development opportunities are strong, with access to structured learning and support for upskilling. The agency also has a number of highly skilled technical staff, and most colleagues are approachable and willing to help.
Cons
The organisation promotes values such as “dignity, fairness and respect,” however in practice there were instances where employees did not feel these were consistently reflected in day-to-day experiences. There appeared to be variability in how staff were treated across different teams, which contributed to perceptions of inconsistency in culture.
There is also a sense that opportunity and progression can be influenced by informal factors, which may lead to perceptions of favouritism in certain areas. While there are capable managers, some technical leadership roles appeared to be held by individuals without strong technical depth, which at times impacted confidence in decision-making.
