Pros

After working for 15 different companies in my lifetime, SnapShot Interactive was my favorite place to work because they had their act together. Each quarter, my coworkers and I would set the company goals and work towards completing them. I really appreciate Mark and Ben because they really worked hard to help us all become our best. I am grateful to have worked with everyone there. Delivering state-of-the-art content is not easy. If you want to work with the best, you'll want to work here, but if you're a slacker, look elsewhere. Generally speaking, agency work is very competitive because everyone thinks they know how to build a website or produce a video - that's why we focused on being effective and efficient. Every Friday afternoon, we would all have an hour of fellowship, where we reviewed new techniques, awesome industry-related videos, and shared our own stuff and ideas. Everyone I worked with had a great attitude, and we were all focused on getting things done. It's nice to work at a place where everyone has a positive attitude.

Cons

I don't have any cons.

Pros

On the plus side, the teammates are nice. The team hires competent people, even if it doesn't last long. Everyone is trying their best. People work hard and find lots to be proud of. The work is interesting, when culture gets out of the way. Learning how to jump in and take initiative is easy because there's so much need for it.

Cons

There's a lot of turnover, employees realizing they don't have to put up with the bad management habits. The company stuffs reviews with fake positives. Leadership regularly causes HR issues. The egos need a lot of managing up. The culture of customer-first service and "no one is above any task" means everyone does everyone else's job, no one does their own job well, and the customer is allowed to run wild with deadlines and feedback. Projects are disorganized. Teammates are not trusted to do their actual jobs and are gaslighted if they try to address the big picture issues. "Accountability" is only used as a weapon. Papering over problems and putting on a smile is always the number one priority. Diversity at the company is poor beyond balancing men and women. There is no room for LGBT identities. People of color don't last long on the team. Sometimes sexism and humor, especially from leadership, are bad as well. Bullying has been an issue. Flexibility of working from home is a tug of war against management's deep lack of trust.

Thanks for the review even though some if it is hard to hear. I see you have moved on and I hope you’re thriving with your new employer. I’m sorry your experience was not 100% positive. Growing quickly and pivoting during Covid was a unique chapter. And we had some serious issues on the leadership team that needed addressing. We underestimated the impact of not having the right people in the right seats and have made changes. Further, operationally we are stronger with better systems – with the goal of eliminating friction in creating the best work. Having better workflows has also created more trust amongst teammates. Though we are a primarily office-based agency, the team tends to work in person – with Wednesday as the day that many choose to work elsewhere. The feedback we get from the team about the office and their experience working together the majority of the time is positive. And at times we do support employees working from elsewhere as life demands. We believe in equality for all and this workplace (and all workplaces) discrimination or mistreatment of anyone totally unacceptable. We all deeply believe that discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, political viewpoint or any other classification is wrong and unacceptable for our agency (or any other). Please reach out to me to discuss if you are willing. Of course, my hope is that with the changes in management that we’ve had, this issue has been systemically addressed however it remains as an important reminder to be far more intentional and proactive about assuring the work experience reflects our values as an agency.
