Pros
Pay is not exceptional for some people but I’m quite happy with mine. I programmed before but never professionally and have learned and earned more in the months in this company than in the whole of grade 9 to 12. Only skill matters, you don’t need a fancy degree. But if you want you can study simultaneously on your own or get your education paid by the company at a private university in Düsseldorf.
The best thing about Smart-Iot/Ble-Solution by far is the team. My colleagues are awesome, kind, and some of them are crazy intelligent. Eating together or playing Mario kart on the Beamer in the break is always a blast, the conversation that spark up are interesting and there is honestly nobody at the company that I would not invite to my home.
Boss is really chill if you complete your tasks you can basically work where and when you want. He is quite generous, sees the value in investing in gear for his employees as long as you have a reason for needing something. You can choose your OS and get a surface or a MacBook Pro, depending on what you choose, all desks have 2 1440p curved monitors, decent keyboards and everybody gets an mx master and a I-tech or surface dock for your laptop. There are free drinks, all sorts of Fritz-Drinks and beer(both officially for guests) but taking as many as you like is not allowed but everybody including management seems to think of himself as a guest:).
My Boss‘s chill attitude when you do your work correctly. If you want something to improve, you talk to him and some time later if you explained your matter well enough the improvement will be implemented.
Nobody will blame you for not reaching timelines/making mistakes as long as you communicate clearly. My boss is quite a great programmer and gets problems if you are able to describe them properly. If you are quite good as a programmer and an honest and direct person you will have a great time.
Cons
Typical Startup-Problems. Understaffed, sometimes unclear communication/organization. To be fair if that happens you don’t take the blame, but the thing that went wrong gets picked up in bi-weekly ratings to.
I really like my boss but I have to say that some people won’t like his slightly braggy behavior. He is insensitive sometimes without meaning it. That sometimes results in awkward conversations but Uf you get to know him and get his humor you feel like having that him just being himself is benefiting the chill attitude atmosphere by providing the feeling of a flat hierache.
Communication is transparent and we are in the picture no matter of good or bad news. That builds trust really fast and you just feel
