Pros

Working in a startup is chaotic and an adrenaline-filled roller coaster ride. If you enjoy that kind of pace, you'll find it at Skyward.

Cons

I was perfectly happy for about 8 months. Then randomly began getting targeted for ridicule by my manager in team meetings. I couldn't understand it until I received my annual review. My supervisor blindsided me with a document filled with petty grievances and untruths. The lies were submitted by an "anonymous" reviewer. When I asked why none of their grievances had been discussed with me previously, the CEO said to me and I quote "because those discussions are so hard". I quit within days of my review. I could not work somewhere where the management style was to undermine someone's confidence in order to make them quit which is what that whole scenario was about. I often think that bad reviews are by someone who could not do their job or were bad at their job and motivated by sour grapes. You can make your own decisions but at the time this happened to me, several other employees had the same experience as I did. If you work there, my advice is to watch your back.

Pros

-Fantastic leadership team within Skyward that does their best to advocate for you and encourage personal growth. -Autonomy and trust you'll get done what you need to with space to innovate and bring in new ideas. -Good work life balance and flexibility to leave for personal appointments, care for children, and attend professional development events. -Encouragement from leadership to improve processes and openly bring problems and solutions to their attention. -Fun company culture and amazing co-workers who know how to get sh*t done. -Verizon offers a good benefits package with funding for career development. I see some earlier reviews on here about Skyward's CEO. In early 2018, Mariah Scott took over as Skyward's President and she has brought refinement and additional excellence to the role. She is highly transparent, has an open door policy, believes in her employees, volunteers with local women's groups, and continues to look for ways to bring Skyward the recognition it deserves. She is open to considering everyone's ideas, consults with her leadership team regularly, and provides mentorship where she can. Mariah is even more impressive around the office than when she's speaking on stage at CES in front of thousands of people with Verizon's CEO.

Cons

-Like all Fortune 500 and large corporations, there are sometimes lengthy or involved processes associated with anything financial or legal. Skyward's leadership team does its best to advocate for work arounds and exceptions when possible.
