Pros

The employees in the office are nice and will provide help during training.

Cons

Skylink Inc. is not a transparent company. Omitting many things during hiring process that are only revealed after a candidate has accepted the offer and begun employment. The company has an unhealthy need to control and monitor their employees digital activities. From insisting on dictating the use of personal LinkedIn profiles to a (mandatory) profoundly intrusive and coercive BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) contract which employees are forced to sign in order to maintain employment. The contract essentially turns the employees personal cell phone into a company device and gives the company complete control over the device. Allowing them to monitor personal search history, call logs and texts. In addition to dictating what the employee may or not not do with their own device. No self respecting employee would consent to such an invasion of privacy. If any company wants that level of control over the device they should provide it. In addition, they want employees to be available 24/7 to their clients which does not make for great work life balance.

Dear past team member, I'm sorry your first two-weeks with us was not what you expected, and I'll take full blame for that. But to be fair to my team, I'll address the points you make as I'm very clear on the incident and to give any future candidate the opportunity to see the true facts as they are. In this situation, nothing was withheld from you but as you're referring to the BYOD policy, the use of LinkedIn and being available 24/7 to dedicated clients, I'll address those. As far as the 24/7 point, this was brought up to you in every stage of the hiring process. This was also on the expectation sheet you failed to sign. I understand this is not for everyone but if a dedicated client has an issue in the field and needs support at 8pm, we're there to take that call. That's what a good saleswoman/man does. This is how we create immense value for our clients which is a core value I explained in my onboarding presentation to you. We are very committed to this. Maybe sales isn't the right fit for you and I'll take the blame for wasting your time as we should have caught this in the interview process. As far as LinkedIn, all we asked is for you to update your profile so it's presentable as this is how we begin reaching out to future clients. This is not a big ask and there seems to be a trend of your commitment to our team. Which again, I'll take full blame for. Last, no document or policy ever states we take control over your phone. That's absurd and a factual misrepresentation of what you were shown and given. You state "Allowing them to monitor personal search history, call logs and texts. In addition to dictating what the employee may or not do with their own device." Our BYOD policy is simply to put the company emails on your phone since everyone prefers to use their phone for many different reasons. Yes, we can monitor all Skylink emails (and we never have to), regardless if it's on your phone or not, but nothing personal of nature. Ever! All this policy says is that we can remove our company-owned email from your phone (using our gmail account) if you decide to leave. That's it. We cannot read your phone. That is not true and a terrible accusation. This was not a correct observation of what you were given and if any future sales team member would like to see our BYOD policy, I'll send it to you directly. I'll even show you how it works on my phone. I'll take full blame for this as this bad fit lands on me. But to end this, it was a lack of commitment to the team that was the true issue. A comment that "I'm embarrassing," as you left the office but in reality, playing "Oregon Trail" and telling your team members they've died in the game, while you were in training, is just simply not a good fit for our culture. This ended as it should and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and again I apologize this time was wasted both for you and for our current team. Sincerely, Nate Anglin CEO
