Great Benefits
"Family" feel
I also love that you are not only allowed, but are encouraged to have a sense of "ownership" for your communities. They trust you to know what your property needs, and lets you handle it your way. I have asked for capital improvements, and my boss ALWAYS has my back with the owners. She always goes to bat for me if I need something.
They will also ALWAYS take your side in a resident dispute (as long as you're not SERIOUSLY wrong). It means a lot to me to know that I'm trusted in that way.
I could go on forever, but the main reason that I love working for Silva-Markham is that they are real, honest, and have integrity. I have worked for companies in the past that didn't have any human compassion, and only thought about the bottom line. Every single time I have dealt with the corporate office, or any of the partners, I have felt heard and respected. They value their employees as people. And in my opinion, that makes employees loyal and hardworking.
As the saying goes, "Love what you do, and you'll never work a day in your life."
Cons
Being mainly Tax Credit, the pay is less than it would be working for a conventional community. But I would rather be paid less and treated well, than to make a ton of money and be treated poorly!
