Pros

Pros: * Remote work flexibility and decent internal documentation. The brand name looks good on a resume.

Cons

Cons: * Expect to do the work of three people for the price of one. You are required to handle multiple merchant chats simultaneously while solving deep technical issues. On top of the technical workload, there is a constant, heavy push for "upselling." It feels less like helping merchants and more like high-pressure sales. The pay is significantly lower than the market rate for the complexity of the tasks and the mental fatigue involved.

Pros

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

Cons

Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
