Pros

People are nice, good crew of work staff. Platform is good and easy to work with

Cons

The scheduling sucks. Be prepared to work 12 days straight with one day off. Instead of having a normal consistent schedule your days off change all the time. It would be so easy to have a consistent schedule with over 300 staff but instead it is total chaos. The busiest shifts end up with 16 staff. It is a nightmare! Only upper management get stat holidays!!! Stat holidays should be optional. If you are considering a job with Shopify say goodbye to every stat day including Family Day, Easter, Christmas, etc, etc....

Thanks for taking the time to submit your review of our schedule. Because we are a 24/7 operation, we have team members on at all times. This is very common in a contact centre environment. No one on our support team works 12 days in a row - and if this happened - you should be talking to your HR partner about it. The Guru team is the most important team we have here and we do our best to make sure people get the time off they need. The schedule is in constant review and we take the time to listen to our employees concerns. I really encourage you to reach out to your squad lead and HR partner to see what we can do to accommodate your schedule.

Pros

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

Cons

Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
