Pros

One pro about the job is the personal relationships with the customers. Being able to take care of peoples need is great. You become very attatched to the customers, and they become friends instead of opportunities to make money. I love that fact. I always feel sales doesn't come from how good of a salesman you are, but through honesty, integrity, and concern you have for the person coming into the store. You don't go to a certain store because the guys a good salesman, you go to the store because of the deals and great help you recieve through projects you have to accomplish. Also knowing each person is knowledgable and a credible honest, hardworking person as yourself.

Cons

Management does not care about anything but numbers.....i've worked for the company for 4 years, and I almost don't think they want you around more than that. I've tried to apply for management jobs and they hired some random guys straight from college instead. I actually tried for the position, called the MTP program, because I just graduated, but some other guys got the position. My interview was short and I swear he wrote me off right in the beginning. I stated my dedication to the company, and how hard I would work. When I usually talk to management they act like I haven't been working for them this long. I think they want new, outside employees for fresh outlook's. That's great, but you have to treat your current employees better in my opinion. I guess that's business though.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
