Pros
I had some of the best co-workers when I was employed with the County. The job was fairly rewarding.
Cons
Lots of red tape. IT wastes money (a really, really significant amount of money) on needless purchases and really doesn't know what they are doing. No chance of promotion or moving up the pay scale unless you're a good 'ol boy. Lots of people wasting time during the day because it's government and nobody is held accountable, hence the reason why taxes are as high as they are.
