Pros

I started working at Sephora when I was eighteen, as a part-time cashier. I was studying History and Secondary Education, and I wanted a non-committal position that I could do on weeknights. Over the years, though, my relationship with Sephora has solidified into a career. I love that I'm able to embrace my passion for education, artistry, leadership, and empowerment on a daily basis, and that I'm able to constantly develop myself and others. For those of you that like lists, here's a few of the benefits of working for Sephora: 1. Extensive training. Our cast members get 10-15 minutes of dedicated learning a day, in addition to brand trainings, summits, masterclasses, and a variety of other educational opportunities. 2. Honest feedback. We LOVE to celebrate our cast members when we see them do something amazing, and we're always challenging our team to push themselves by building on their strengths. We don't let it slide when we see an opportunity, but we don't berate our team, either; we're adamant about coaching in a way that makes all parties feel comfortable. 3. Opportunities for growth. We constantly check in with members of our team to determine what they want, where their path is going, and how to most effectively get them there. There's also numerous elevated positions in our stores, as well as a minimum of six leadership roles, so there's plenty of room to develop. 4. Constant innovation. We are a company that is changing, developing, shifting, and innovating constantly, and it's always a cool experience seeing what Sephora will do next! 5. Amazing atmosphere. My Sephora family is as close to my heart as my actual family, and I love that I get to work with inspiring, fearless men and women each and every day.

Cons

Although Sephora is generally amazing about granting their team work/life balance, there isn't as much support for full-time employees. I would LOVE to see Sephora institute a more progressive policy surrounding maternity leave, and possibly provide daycare assistance for their employees!

Pros

Loved learning more about products and working with most of the other team members. Helping people find products that worked for them was really fun.

Cons

Managers are WEIRD. They play favorites and will talk about it while you are standing right there. Practically make you beg for hours. If you are anything other than the current viral makeup style look, you will get less opportunities. Leadership acts like mean high school girls. Working here took away a lot of my passion for the beauty industry for a long time. Also, when it comes to gratis - why are you letting certain managers walk out with 4 bags of things that they have hand picked? Then leaving whatever they discarded to be handed out??? Constantly had missing gratis from my bag because of managers going through the products they wanted. Scheduling is not flexible or even makes sense. Whoever they like gets better shifts. Would constantly have extra shifts added with no notice until an hour before the shift. Or shifts taken away because a favorite wanted them.
