Pros

I loved feeling like I was making an impact as an intern for Senator Feinstein. You get a window into how government works that is really valuable. The staff were friendly and willing to chat with interns.

Cons

In my experience, they had too many interns for the amount of work that need to get done. Sometimes I had only two-three hours of work for an eight hour shift. Research projects were few and far between

Pros

- taught me what I don't want out of a career - the office space was kinda nice

Cons

- strict management (at least in the LA office) — have to ask to go to the bathroom, yelled at when ~2 minutes late, discouraged from socializing, etc. - largely geared towards younger interns/people who don't know what a healthy workplace looks like - only a few hours of work to do each day, but expected to "be productive" the whole time - interns get very little actual responsibility, and no say in any decisions made or deliverables that go out - as a current career professional who has worked at prominent DC organizations, I had 7 internships during college and all were better than this one ... by a lot unfortunately - (will admit that I'm not sure if this is a larger problem across all DF offices or just this one — or an issue with just the management I had)
