Management very personable and allow staff to advance. Enjoyed helping people to develop skill sets to promote in various areas within the organization.

Great place for networking with other organizers and people in leadership. Members work for the State of California, which includes government agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the Employee Development Department, the Department of State Hospitals, and the Department of Corrections, just to name a few.

Favoritism. If you are not a beauty to management, then you mean nothing. I can mention the number of times my Director has outright disrespected us despite figuring out what to do with our turf. Members also disrespect you too; they do not see the staff as people who can help them, but rather someone they can wipe themselves on and discard. Some members in leadership positions don't even care about the general membership, but rather keep the status that they hold in the Union.
