Pros

-The working team: the managers and consultants, are nice, hardworking, capable and smart. -Good feedback culture: Highly willing to give feedback, excellent for learning and growth -Project work: As a new graduate, there are a good variety of projects and every project has its own nuances and things to learn. Generally, these projects focus on market research. -Quality of work: the team is truly capable and the work quality is good. For such a small team and background, the work is comparable if not better than other bigger consultancies. -Working hours: 9-6pm with no expectation of extra hours (significantly more chilled than most if not all consultancy firms)

Cons

-Disconnected CEO & leadership team: Leadership team – partner and director are not based in the UK, with director in charge of “admin and finances”, with doubtful contribution to the team -Poor business development and weak pipeline when I was with them, which highlights certain operational and incompetency of the owners of the firm, i.e. BD largely fell on the shoulder of a single person - the partner. At time of economic instability/downturn, the flaws are immediately apparent -Poor morale: Due to poor pipeline and poor economic circumstances in recent years, morale of the team is pessimistic and poor -The partner making all/most of the decision: Managers and consultants are not really empowered to speak up. -You’re not encouraged to advocate for yourself: if you have performed well, its best to keep it to yourself and not advocate for yourself for better pay etc. There are more than 1 instances where this is a contributing factor that resulted in the termination of an employee -Elitist firm: focus their recruitment drive from elite universities (based on where you were and not what you have done) with questionable recruiting criterias. The leadership, and perhaps the team as well, do not really know what makes a good candidate that have a good fit (obviously try and use this to your advantage.) -Low pay: pay significantly below market rate -Lower level employees are expendable: Though this is true for many firms, this is particularly bad for this firm. Interns are new joiners are typically recruited from elite universities. Termination was carried out via an email.
