Pros

If you want diversity and interesting projects to work on, this is a good place to start You may be able to work on interesting projects and with some interesting people.

Cons

But don't stay here too long (and most people don't) because your skills and your wallet will suffer. This is a non-profit so the intrinsic value of contributing to education and children should be one of your goals, otherwise you'll be in the wrong place.

Pros

The people make the experience. Not only do you work along side some of the friendliest and most dedicated people you'll find, but you interact daily with interesting and interested people from all walks of life, and get to show them just how amazing the world is.

Cons

You can't please all of the people all of the time, and there are some days where it feels like you can't please any of the people ever. That's the nature of working with the public.

Pros

- It is a job

Cons

- Not a place to expect growth. - They do not celebrate their staff, work or anything but people leaving. - Some management (who have been there for 8+ years) is challenging to work with because most have no managerial training or interest. They frequently complain to their subordinates about how useless the HR training videos are which teach them how to manage instead of being company liabilities. These managers desperately need this training and are the cause of many qualified people leaving quickly. - There is a growing shift to contract out work (at a higher cost) that was historically done in-house. The contractors that are hired are old friends of the long time (8+ years) managers and frequently require the in-house teams to redo and fix the problems the contractors create. - The lunch room is not equipped to handle the people it needs to serve. There is no quiet space but it is equipped with a broken dishwasher & unsanitary dish washing tools. Not great when it's raining and there is nowhere else to go during your unpaid 30 minute lunch break. - The building is frequently under construction in various areas. This frequently displaces staff to loud and over crowded areas.
