Pros
Benefits are good and retirement is great. The retirement is a pension plan which is very rare these days and much better than any 401k. Work/Life Balance is decent. Some positions have the ability to work 4-10 hr days.
Cons
No living wage. No real raises, 3% is just a mockery in today’s economical climate. No advancement or promotions. It is truly the Good Ole Boy system here. Required to perform 3 peoples job and only get paid for 1. Been working here over 11 years, my first 8 of those nobody received any raises. The commissioners excuse, raises were not in the budget due to hurricane damage from a hurricane 14 years prior. Only started getting yearly raises within the past 3 years. They promote who they like and are buddies with, not by qualifications.
