Pros

The pay is above average. You can buy or sell annual leave.

Cons

Sanctuary broke me. Poor management, no support, unrealistic expectations, unpaid overtime is expected. A work load that is absolutely impossible to complete. Management offer no support, they just pile on the work until you cannot cope anymore. Very poor in appreciation disability and occupational health assessments ignored.

I am sorry that you had concerns during your employment. Staff are encouraged to raise any concerns directly with their line manager in the first instance, or if this is not possible you can speak to a more senior manager, a member of the HR team, or a staff council representative. In addition there is a policy framework in place that provides an established avenue for raising employee concerns informally or formally, and an escalation route where informal approaches have not been successful. This would apply when there are concerns such as managing workloads and where further support arrangements are required to manage this effectively. Housing Officers are able to manage their own time, however where overtime has needed to be worked, TOIL is available, or in exceptional circumstances can be paid, and this is reflected in Sanctuary Housing's Terms and Conditions, as part of its competitive reward package. In relation to your concerns regarding disability and occupational health, one of Sanctuary’s key values is diversity, and as a disability confident employer, there is a commitment to support employees who have a disability or long-term health condition, whether this is through policies such as Support at Work – adjustments; or the flexible working policy, available to all staff. Furthermore Sanctuary promotes health and wellbeing initiatives such as time to change, and mental health week, and provides support, including the provision of a confidential Employee Advice Service, occupational health, and tailored adjustment plans.
