Pros
I started working here when i was 16 and by 18 i was promoted to head clerk which is a low level management position making about $20/hr. They are so desperate for people to step into management position because nobody wants to work here. Upper management treat their employees like crap and are constantly trying to cut their pay, benefits, hours, etc. It pays decently if you go into management but be prepared to work 10-12 hours a day, with a changing schedule each week that can range from starting at 6 am to starting at 2pm along with getting split days off. Its relatively easy to get into management cause they are so desperate like i said. Just do a good job for a few months, maybe less and ask. Its that easy. Pros: -Easy to get into management -Minimum number of hours is required to be given to employees set by the union. -Easy to get into management -Decent pay if you top out pay scale or enter into management -Good benefits package
Cons
Cons: -It takes forever to get raises as they are based on amount of hours worked. I believe it takes like 7400 hours total to top out which will take several years -Management continues to under value its employees and try to cut pay, benefits, etc -Not really a career for those with a degree and are driven -Often times people in management are not very smart, many have been fired -Its a union job so everything is set in stone in terms of raises, so dont expect performance based raises of bonuses. the idiot working next to you will be given raises in the same manner as you and its often irritating -Each time a new contract came out with the union it just keeps getting worse and worse for the employees -Schedule changes each week often with split days off - Very repetitive and leaves you feeling unaccomplished
