Pros
The owner finds and matches students with tutors, so tutors don't have to proactively do anything.
Cons
Whereas most tutoring companies take 25% of what students pay (i.e., tutors earn 75% of what students pay), STEM Excellence Tutoring takes over 60% of what students pay. This is literally unheard of for a private tutoring company, especially considering the company provides ZERO support for tutors. In other words, the company provides no resources of any kind (e.g., handouts, study materials, exercises) for tutors to use, yet tutors get less than 40% of what students are paying.
The owner is 100% devoted to getting new clients; that is her only priority. Any issues faced by tutors are often sidelined, to the point that tutors will be lucky if they can even manage to get a face-to-face/phone/Zoom conversation with the owner at all. Emails and texts to the owner often go unanswered.
The owner will always side with students/parents over tutors, even when students/parents are out of line.
