Pros
tight knit culture that supports families and work/life balance, loyal to employees and a culture of promoting from within whenever possible, very stable company financially, CEO/Founder is very involved in the business, privately held with only one owner prevents the pain of public shareholders and short term focus on quarterly results which allows the company to invest in long term initiatives
Cons
low pay relative to industry for staff workers (only way to make good money is in sales), promote from within sometimes means under-qualified people in leadership positions, difficult to transform company to embrace new services portfolio because of volume business around legacy services
