Leadership (meaning Sr Director, VP, and up) that has no vision, no strategy, no idea what it means to manage a brand and company in 2021. In my time with the company, every new launch has been in response to a competitor, never being the innovator. Worst of all, I think the leadership are okay with being that way.
WFH policy is an embarrassment. If you live 25 miles away, you are 'given the opportunity' to work remotely on a Friday. If you are 24 miles away, you are not given that opportunity. WFH doesn't really matter though: expect Friday in-person meetings because it is the only time people are free, and are scheduled by people who live within the 25 mile radius.
'Butts in seats' was always SCJ's core principles, as seen in their rabid desire to prevent working from home; the 'family' and the uppermost leadership love nothing more than seeing their ants working away in the office to 'pop in on'. However, COVID and 2020 took this to a new level. The upper leadership attempted to bring people back in June 2020, and continued to prove their ineptitude in this regard by pushing it back a month at a time until April.
Joining the #blessed Leadership at SCJ mandates that you become a steamroller who rudely disregards everyone else. Common phrases to practice yelling at others are "that is not acceptable", "why was this not done in the first place", and "why can [competitor] do it and we can't" (the answer to that last one is Con #1 above minus 1 year of timeline.
Yearly holiday vacation must be used by July, and renews in June. This means people dump a significant amount of vacation in the early summer, which shuts the company down. Move it to the end of year holiday time.
