Part Time Work - Tutor Rotherham College Employee Review

Education is a great industry to be part of, if you believe in its value to society.

Rotherham College was full of cynical, depressed, disheartened, negative staff who didn't care for each other, let alone the students. Many, not all, staff weren't knowledgable in their profession, and training was non-existent.

I began working at the college in 2005. It was a brilliant place to work. Very student focused and staff were helpful and supportive. Management were, on the whole, approachable and helpful. Some things weren't perfect, but there was a great sense of people pulling together and it was obvious that people really cared about the students.

A change in management culture in 2014 meant the college lost something very special. Bullying by management and low-level, petty bullying between staff made the college a very unpleasant place to work. Students with additional needs, in my opinion, were not treated fairly. I resigned in 2015 after 10 years service, but there was no card, no thank you, like so many, I simply disappeared.
