Pros

- Focussed on training, team unity and pair programming - If you get a dedicated mentor who gives you lots of time and is honest with you on where to grow, you can be very successful in becoming a talented software developer - Craftsmanship academy is a great intro to development.

Cons

- Low pay for juniors - Previous experience not valued - Value calculated on a standard set that doesn't include all work done as a developer - If your skillset is different than a typical full-stack (knows backend, knows decent front end, knows some design), your compensation is unlikely to be as high. - Entering the craftsmanship academy if you have already developed or gone to Comp Sci is 75% stuff you know, 25% you don't.

Pros

Team members want to do great work, they encourage one another, they listen to one another. Customers give positive reviews of team and work. Generous flexibility with hours and compensation if you can understand and manage the trade-offs. Genuine respect for work-life balance and families. Nobody gets forced into working overtime.

Cons

The company has had a stagnant or negative growth trend for a couple of years. High employee turnover. Mixed bag of projects. Some projects are fresh and exciting, but some are dull and never-ending. The company does a poor job of investing in itself, spending a lot of time and resources on ventures that seem unwise, while putting off things that need attention. The leadership often seems like it’s out of touch with team members.
