Pros

In 2023, I was recruited as the Marketing Manager for Rohit Homes (Central Alberta & Ontario) and later moved to Division Marketing Manager for Income Producing Properties (Rohit Rental Living, Rohit Commercial, and Rohit Health). With nearly five years at WestJet and experience at other large organizations, I successfully built structure, implemented strategy and delivered measurable results at Rohit in a little over a year. Key Achievements Rohit Homes (August 2023 – April 2024) -Led Rohit’s comprehensive rebrand initiative, directing a high performing team in successfully implementing the refreshed brand identity across Central Alberta and Ontario markets. -Relocated the head office to Downtown Edmonton, and managed a Rohit Homes and IPP website redesign including finalizing copy and image assets -Developed and executed the Rohit Homes Edmonton 2024 Marketing Tactical Plan Planned and executed four major events, including the launch of two new communities (Cherot & Cambrian) along with their showhomes—Cambrian won the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA) 2023 Best Sales and Information Centre (Large Volume) award -Led Phase 1 of the Louis Duncan-He Awareness national campaign -Onboarded new media vendors, to drive the projected sales of 400 homes in Edmonton Income Producing Properties (May 2024 – December 2024) -Developed a detailed marketing framework for Rohit Rental Living projects, ensuring a streamlined inception-to-completion process -Prepared the 2025 Development and Operational Budgets for over 60 projects -Created 2025–2030 marketing financial forecasts for over 100 current and projected projects -Established an asset library for 20+ projects across Rohit Commercial and Rohit Rental Living

Cons

Despite delivering tangible results that positioned the company for long-term success, I was laid off in December 2024—without cause, without any negative performance reviews and without the performance bonus I was promised when recruited. Rohit recruited me under the premise of long-term growth and stability, yet when it came time to honor their commitments, they chose to cut costs at the expense of employees who had delivered on their promises. I wasn’t alone. Two other Marketing Managers, also recruited from larger organizations, were laid off without cause and denied their promised bonuses. It became clear that Rohit was never invested in us beyond the short-term. Beyond the immediate loss of income, being laid off in December has had serious career implications. Most companies pause hiring during the holidays, making it one of the worst times to be on the job market. It’s now been two months and I am still without a job. If Rohit had been transparent about hiring us for a short-term restructuring effort, I would have made a different choice—I would have stayed at WestJet. I would never trade stability for uncertainty had I known the full picture. That level of honesty would have shown integrity. Instead, leadership misrepresented their intentions, leading me to invest my time, expertise and energy in a company that had no intention of keeping its commitments.
