Pros
For the most part, I enjoyed my time at Rocket Media. It’s a small agency with some big agency perks and there’s a great atmosphere and many employees that care about their work. Plus, it’s one of the few agencies in the East Valley. So if you live on this side of town, you can’t beat the commute. - Owners (Ben and Lindsay) are great people who care about their employees - Many of the employees are also great to work with - Some cool perks like a kegerator, free snacks, fun team outings, etc. - Very collaborative work environment. We worked hard to break down silos
Cons
My two biggest concerns with Rocket Media were: 1) They have a tendency to hold onto low-performing employees. This places extra work on the plate of the good employees and drags down the company as a whole. 2) I never felt like there was a clear strategic direction for the company. It was always changing. And even though we were small, people had different ideas for the company’s future and were working toward different goals. I realize both of these things are pretty common in small businesses, but want to give an accurate picture of the company for those considering working there. Other downsides include: - Health insurance coverage is pretty expensive. The company covered 50% of the employees premium but none of your family’s. Consider that when negotiating salary - PTO is also less than many agencies. Although I know a couple employees were able to negotiate more. - They’re primarily HVAC focused. So you work on the same types of clients all days. There are some upsides to this, but it can also get monotonous - If you’re already senior level, not a lot of room to move up in the company
